First Grade Curriculum

First grade is all about new experiences.  Reading and writing take up a great portion of our day!  We explore all the genres in reading.  Writer's Workshop is a popular time of day as students learn to create their own pieces of writing.  Math instruction is hands-on and encourages each child to develop their own number sense.  First grade scientists explore the sun and the moon, magnets, and the world of living and non- living things.  First grade is a year of firsts AND a year of tremendous growth.
